How to Think in Stereo about Content Marketing

Posted by Eric Stensvaag on Nov 8, 2016 7:14:31 PM

In an age when content is king, individuals rely on a wide range of organizations—both media and non-media companies—to curate and help them navigate a high volume of information. Everyone seems to be getting into the content business, as it’s proven to create authentic engagement in a landscape where traditional ads get ignored.

While most organizations use content marketing these days, it’s notable that the majority of these do not think highly of their current programs. According to a recent Content Marketing Institute report, just 32% of B2B and 37% of B2C said their content marketing was either sophisticated or mature, so there is clearly much room for improvement. This can take many forms, from better measurement to a wider array of tactics.

A Back to School Soundtrack Curated by The Breakfast Club

Posted by Eric Stensvaag on Aug 2, 2016 8:53:13 PM

It feels like just yesterday that school was out for summer. As the calendar flips from July to August, this time of year can create a nostalgic and reflective mood about what it’s like to go back to school.

At, thinking about back to school led us to the quintessential high school flick The Breakfast Club. The movie is hard to forget because it so perfectly captures something universal about the different cliques that American teenagers can find themselves circling.

In The Breakfast Club, we meet Brian (The Brain), Allison (The Basket Case), Andrew (The Athlete), Claire (The Princess), and John (The Criminal). As music lovers, we asked ourselves what music each of these archetypal characters was listening to as they went back to school in 1983, several months before that fateful day they met at the library. Then we fast-forwarded 30+ years and imagined their life’s soundtrack today.

Your guess is as good as ours in terms of what happened to each of them following detention and what became of their lives. However, we feel reasonably confident the following music would be found on their playlists…both then and now.

Prince’s Prints: 20 Great Songs that Wouldn’t Exist Without His Influence

Posted by Eric Stensvaag on Apr 27, 2016 6:13:31 PM

We’ve all read and heard a lot about Prince’s musical legacy over the past week. And deservedly. From the time of his debut album in 1978 until his untimely death, he was a pathbreaker who lived up to the somewhat grandiose (albeit temporary) nickname “the Artist.”

Mixtape — Joe Barham, 3rd installment

Posted by Admin on Mar 3, 2016 2:12:59 PM

Welcome to another in our curated mixtape series!

We’re proud to feature another mixtape from Joe Barham.

Joe Barham is the manager of the popular San Francisco-based rock band The Stone Foxes. A highly sought after filmmaker and producer, his work includes music videos for Jim James and Washed Out. Joe recently completed his first feature film, serving as the Music Supervisor for Warner Brothers’ “Batkid Begins.” The critically-acclaimed film features music from the likes of Hans Zimmer, Andrew Bird and Holy Ghost. Prior to management, Joe was Music Director and DJ for KSAN 107.7 FM.

When we asked him to curate for us, he stayed up all night and sent over a 24-hour mix!

It was like you guys were the hot girl and I was trying to get laid freshman year. Got into the dangerous playlist mode and tried a few diff things then kinda went off the rails and broke all my radio rules. Essentially I think most playlists have an expectation to them and this one should act as a wild card but with a little purpose. All different sorts of music but a mix of unknown and well known stuff so hopefully people will get a little of both when listening. Discovering new stuff while still getting the pleasant surprise of a melody from their past.”

We thought this was awesome, so we’re bringing it to you in installments. Look forward to more from Joe once a month (at least).

Listen and share! —
